THREE MOUNTAINS: A one-minute audiovisual presentation of this script. On the courage and skills of three men, and the greed of a gambler, rests the survival of Hawaii’s great Parker Ranch estate.
Three Mountains is a true-life character piece of a courageous Hawaiian, Ikua Purdy, who surmounts extraordinary challenges to compete for the title of world’s roping champion. Tied to the mystical Hawaii, the Paniolos personifies an American cowboy never before seen on the silver screen. These cowboys herd wild cattle through shark-infested waters to distant cargo ships; train horses chest-deep in crashing waves; and round-up wild cattle from lava. A character piece of personal triumph, the enigmatic Ikua Purdy uncovers a family betrayal that threatens Hawaii’s Parker Ranch and its twelve-year-old heiress, Thelma. To save the ranch, Ikua must give up his preconception of the soulless white man and travel to the mainland. With conflict at every side, he must confront the daunting task of wining the world’s roping championship in Wyoming or never return to his homeland again.
